Abstract

The poly(3-hexylthiophene):-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester(P3HT∶PCBM) bulk-heterojunction polymer solar cells fabricated with doctor-blade coating were studied. It is found that the active layer thickness increases with increasing the coating speed or lowing substrate temperature, which is attributed to the changes of solution viscosity and surface tension. Moreover, the P3HT∶PCBM active layer produced by doctor-blade coating demonstrates fine donor-acceptor nanoscale phase separation favoring enhancing exciton dissociation and charge collection.A 4.2% P3HT∶PCBM solar cell was fabricated with doctor-blade coating technique.
