Abstract

ID Tags that can be identified at a distance are of interest for their possible uses in various fields. In a previous paper, the author reported the development of a location-detection system with a new ID tag, which resonates at definite frequencies determined by magnetic encoding. This tag needs to be improved by increasing both the memory capacity and the detection distance. These improvements can be achieved by increasing the magnetic energy of the resonator in the design of the tag. One possible way of doing this is to use a wide resonator. When the width of the resonator was larger than a certain threshold, two different resonant frequencies appeared in high harmonics. These results are regarded as indicating an apparent dispersion of a sound velocity. The results are analyzed by the method of Giebe and Blechschmidt, which gives a useful tool for designing the resonant frequencies of a tag system.
