Abstract

Socio-medical factors in maxillary bone-fractures were investigated statistically in 26 patients. Although incidence of facial irjury increased annually, the increase in the incidence of maxillary bone-fractures for the past 8 years did not parallel that of nasal bone-fractures.Surgery for maxillary bone-fbacture should be performed not only for cosmetic plasty but also to improve dysfunction. Our results suggested that sufficient improvements of the maxillo-mandibular dysfunction could be obtained by surgery performed within 2 weeks after the injury, and surgery for the disturbance of eye-movement should be performed in accordance with the indication of operation for the blow out fracture.
