Abstract
Since 1987 we have been carrying out engine performance test on special oil. For example, fish oil, slop oil, spent vegetable oil, crude oil, waste plastics oil. The results indicate that each oil can be used as fuel oil for diesel engine, with modifying some parts of diesel engine slightly and heating the fuel oil. And then, we developed the diesel-generator set for slop oil and spent vegetable oil in commercial use. In this paper, we introduce the diesel-generator set system using spent vegetable oil. In that system, fuel injection parts were modified, blended fuel oil with marine diesel oil was used and fuel oil was heated. By these ways, the engine durability and performance are improved and exhaust gas emission are decreased. This diesel-generator set has been running at frozen tempura factory since 1997.
