Abstract

A 55-day-old pig developed edema on the forehead. Histopathologically, accumulation of round cells was seen in the nasal mucosa. The epithelial cells of the tubuloalveolar glands were enlarged to contain large basophilic intranuclear inclusion bodies positive for Feulgen's test. Electron microscopically, a large number of immature virus particles were demonstrated in nuclei, and mature virus particles in cytoplasmic vacuoles in the epithelial cells of the tubuloalveolar glands.
