Abstract

We recently encountered 5 cases of sarcoidosis accompanied with facial paralysis. The courses of facial paralysis varied, and it presented diverse clinical profiles including bilateral paralysis, latent nervous disorder, and unilateral paralysis difficult to distinguish from Bell's palsy. No particular tendency was observed among other accompanying symptoms. The presence of sarcoidosis should be considered in treating patients with facial paralysis since sarcoidosis occasionally accompanied latent nervous disorder. From the findings in our patients, we recommend the close evaluation of patients with sarcoidosis for neuropathy in cooperation with internists.
