Abstract

Polyimide-urethane elastomers (PIUEs) were prepared by reacting three different moleculer weight of poly(oxytetramethylene)glycol(PTMG: Mn=1000, 2000 and 3000) with 4, 4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), then further chain extending with various kinds of bifunctional aromatic acid anhydride compounds as a chain extender.Physical properties of PIUEs prepared from aromatic acid anhydrides were studied by the measurements of thermal stabilities (TGA) and tensile properties at various temperatures. And structure-property relationships of PIUEs were investigated on the basis of the results of thermal analysis (DSC) and dynamic viscoelastic analysis. As the results, it was found that the incorporation of aromatic imiderings to the hard segment of polyurethanes contributed to the enhancement of thermal stabilities and tensile properties.
