Abstract
Full coverage crowns such as pocelain fused to metal for anterior teeth and full cast for posterior teeth are widely employed today. Although preparation designs for those restorations have various advantages, undue usages of such designs seemed to neglect conservation of the healthy enamel structure. Much attention should be paid for partial veneer preparation designs so that natural tooth structure is effectively preserved.The preparation designs for the vital tooth are common to those for the non-vital tooth. However, the detailed designs are different when dealing with the vital tooth reduction.In this report, the clinical preparation cases which demonstrate the requirements for the proper design are shown.
