Abstract

Today, the roadway closure is an important problem in coal mines.Especially, the roadwa with a weak floor has a great tendency of it.The influence of the thickness of weak floor on the stresses and displacements in the near vicinity of a single roadway is studied by the finite element method.The distributions of stress and displacement around roadways of three shapes, circular. arched and square roadways, are calculated for the condition of plane strain and under gravity loading.It is found that the stresses and displacements depend on the thickness of weak floor, the shape of roadway and the physical constants of rocks around roadway.
