Abstract
Deep-drawing, pure stretch-forming and combined-forming tests are carried out in order to clarify the relationship between the relative load-carrying capacity Tcr/(A0ST) and the press formability of circular blanks for various kinds of sheet metals; where Tcr is the fracture force, A0=2πr1t0 the initial cross-sectional area of a blank at punch radius r1, t0 its initial thickness and ST tensile strength of the metal used. It is confirmed both experimentally and theoretically that the forming depth has a significant correlation with Tcr/ (A0ST). Besides, a close correlation between the values of Tcr/(A0ST) obtained from each of the forming tests examined has been also confirmed. Therefore, once this parameter is gained in any of these tests, it is approximately effective to the formability in all.
