Abstract

We researched and calculated the percentage of wood that is wasted at the forest and the lumber mill. We measured the energy used at the two locations and also the timber market. Then we calculated the CO2 emissions of one cubic meter of lumber production, targeting the four cases. We also researched the volume of by-products from the lumber mill. After that, we calculated the carbon balance by subtracting carbon emissions from the amount of fixed carbon. Finally, we calculated the CO2 emissions of a single wooden houses using Japanese Ceder in Niigata prefecture.
