Abstract

It is one of the very important subjects for electrolytic polishing to determine experimentally whether the surface of machine parts can be polished uniformly or not. Although several researches on this subject were published at home and abroad, the writers investigated the polishing rate at different points of the specimen consisting of the copper small strips of which weight is measured by the precision balance before electrolytic polishing.Next, we studied about the precision finishing of cylindrical surface by means of electrolytic polishing and got successful result by the experimental graphs: time-bath temperature, and bath temperature-polished away quantity. We adopted the specimen comparatively larger than the cathode plate, and the thick cop-per plates forming rectangular, of which weight was measured precisely before and after the polishing. All the data were summarized into a few graphs which suggested the non-uniformity of polishing. For example, when the one side of the specimen was placed closely and in parallel to the cathode plate, the front surface of the cathode was less polished away than the other side. This phenomenon and other few experimental results were discussed.
