Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain information to develop land use planning support tools (PSS) using GIS through questionnaire survey. The focus of this survey is upon an urban planning section in provincial government, an urban planning consultant company and a private think tank company. The rate using GIS for land use planning is 56 percent, but GIS is mainly used as data management tools. In addition, many of those surveyed are using commercial GIS software more than PSS. Finally, many answers showed required functions of PSS are data management and mapping function, and desired use of PSS data is mainly for land use, zoning and population distribution.
