Abstract

Root-rot due to Pythium sp. occurred severely on the sugarcane cultivar, L60-14 in 1973. The causal fungus, strongly aggressive to L60-14 but not to N : CO 310 and Ni-1, was identified as Pythium arrhenomanes Drechsler. In 1974, P. graminicola Subr. was isolated from affected roots of N : CO 310, but its pathogenicity was not confirmed yet.
