Abstract

We report a case of localized nodular pulmonary amyloidosis diagnosed by percutaneous aspiration cytology and biopsy under computed tomography (CT) guidance. Papanicolaou staining showed amyloidosis as amorphous, acellular, waxy, eosinophilic clumps with sharp edges associated with lymphocytes and macrophages. Recognition of this amorphous material in the background is essential to correct cytological diagnosis of amyloidosis.
