Abstract
In an inclined disc pelletizer used for build-up granulation of powder, grains are circulated on an inclined rotating disc. The circulation of grains consists of three periods; the ascent period of grains with the same velocity as the disc rotation rate, the subsequent decelerated ascent period, A, and the rolling-down period, B. In this paper, dynamic analysis is applied to the grain motion in both period A and B, and the trajectories and velocity change of grains are numerically calculated. Through the analysis, criterion adequate for determining relationships among the frictional coefficient of grains, the inclination angle of disc and Froude number of disc rotation during the operation of pelletizer is presented in place of Bhrany's equation.
