Abstract
ThearticleisdevotedtoaspectsofrelationsbetweenthecountriesoftheShanghaiCooperation Organization (SCO). Within its framework, a study was made of the commonality anddifferences in the interests of large states –China and Russia –and the countries of Central Asia. Theirstrategic positions in matters of ensuring security and economic development of the region were revealed.ThemaininstrumentanddirectionintheactivitiesoftheSCOremainsmultilateralcooperation,whichis based on the principle of equality and taking into account the interests of all member countries. Thedivergence of positions is evidenced by the initiatives voiced on the SCO platform. Not infrequently theyrepresentadifferentvisionofthedevelopmentoftheorganization.One should also pay attention to the peculiarity of the SCO, where two large countries –China andRussia –have, although not polar, but also different views on the issues of ensuring and strengtheningsecurity.
