Abstract
The optical grade silicon carbide(SiC) ceramic was prepared by reaction sintering from SiC blank,which made by gel-casting method in vacuum furnace. The testing results showed that the structure of RB-SiC was full density,and the mechanical properties of RB-SiC were excellent. The line shrinkage was lower than 0.23%,and the ground surface roughness(RMS) could be better than 3 nm. So the RB-SiC ceramic was fine material for the space-borne large scale light-weight mirror.
