Abstract

This paper puts forward two main forms of motion of grinding media in a horizontal cylindrical shell of a vibration mill under movement along a circular orbit. The first is the throw-up and falling motion of the grinding media in the gravitational field. The second is the impact action of the shell wall on the grinding media, by which the grinding media is made to vibrate in radius direction. Based on the impact and moment theorems, the formulae of the forces acting between the shell and grinding media, and the formula of power consumption of grinding media are deduced.
