Abstract

In the Kiso horse, the caecum and colon occu-py only the right half of the abdominal cavity.This condition is the stage intermediate between thenew born colt and the adult foreign line breed.The caecum of the Kiso horse is larger thanthat of the foreign line breed, while the length andsize of the colon are the same in the both breeds.The above mentioned characteristics explain cle-0arly the extremely large abdominal condition inthe Kiso horse.
