Abstract

Because of its diversity, easy modification and other unique properties, conjugated organic oligomers have been widely used in the design and synthesis of molecular wires. The photoelectric property and self-assembly of single-moleculars are the two critical points in the research of conjugated organic molecules. The self-assembled monolayer film containing oligo-polyphenylene ethynylene (OPE) building blocks, due to its good optical properties, has been widely used to study the electron transfer properties of conjugated molecular wires. The introduction of ferrocene group greatly expands the electrochemical property and application of self-assembled monolayers. This review emphasizes the research progresses on the synthesis and photoelectric properties of functionalized substituted thiol-derivatized-ferrocene conjugated molecules in the last decade.
