Abstract

It is longed to improve high water content soil such as mud, slurry, and sediment and to reuse the improved soil effectively because of decreasing the lands for spoil-banks. High water content soil is usually hardened by cement type stabilizer to be reused. Therefore, it is interesting to study on the forecast characteristics of the hardening strength with the object of hardening high water content clay in low strength. In this study, the strength of cement type stabilized clays was estimated in various clays and various conditions of water contents. As the result of the research, following were clarified.1. The relationship between the characteristic W/C (the water/cement ratio) and qu (unconfined compression strength) was scattered widely by wi (the percentage of moisture content to soil), but the relation between the characteristic We/C (the pore water/cement ratio: We was output by bleeding water content etc.) and qu was normalized, not being caused by wi.2. The relationship between the characteristic We/C and qu was scattered widely by the variety of clays, but the relation between the characteristic We/(C+Cp) (the pore water/effective cement ratio: Cp was output by soluble silica) and qu was normalized, not being caused by the variety of clays.
