Abstract
脊髄髄膜瘤は神経管閉鎖不全症の代表的な疾患で, 脊髄機能の他にも水頭症をはじめとする種々の神経障害を伴う.出生後から成長の過程での多様な問題に適切に対応するためには, 複数の診療科・職種からなるチーム医療体制の構築が望ましい.胎児診断された症例に施行された胎内治療の結果では, 出生後の脊髄機能に変化はないものの, キアリ奇形・水頭症の合併が減少することが明らかにされている.サプリメントでの葉酸服用と葉酸の強加食品を施策として勧めることにより, 本症の発生が減少している国が多い一方, 本邦ではむしろ発生が漸増する傾向にある.今後も本症に対するより広い理解と啓蒙活動が重要である.
