Abstract

A novel hexagonal columnar MgO was synthesized by precipitation method assisted by structure director (PEG-10000). Experiment results show that this hexagonal columnar structure can be explained by self-assemble with layer by layer. The precursor of MgO was nesquehonite, and MgO with large surface area (> 55 m2/g) was obtained after calcination at 600℃. The adsorption performance of hexagonal columnar MgO was also studied in lead solution, and saturated adsorption was 390 mg/g. The results of adsorption are conformed to Langmuir model, which mean that the novel hexagonal columnar MgO has a high adsorption performance.
