Abstract

A new method of selective image amplification with two photorefractive BaTiO3 crystals is proposed and its amplification characteristics is investigated. The gain of beam amplification by using the method is almost equal to the product of gain obtained from each crystals. The blur of images caused by the amplification reveal very small. Using this method, the images are more emphasized than with single BaTiO3 crystal and amplified images obtained by the selective image amplification are of high quality. It is concluded that this method is very useful for the real time pattern processing.
