Abstract

The thermal effects of laser diode array(LDA) side-pumped rod lasers are investigated in this paper.Three-dimensional temperature field and thermal stress distribution of the laser crystal were simulated by finite element method.The pump light intensity and temperature variation with the distance between LDA and the center of the crystal were obtained,and the axial temperature of the laser crystal rod was non-uniform,but changed with the LDA duty factor.The theoretical basis for the reduction on the thermal effect of the laser system was provided.
