Abstract

Aspergillosis of the paranasal sinuses is considered relatively rare. In this report, we describe a case of aspergillosis of the maxillary sinus. The patient, a 73-year-old woman, visited our department because of nasal obstruction on the left side. X-ray examination revealed diffuse radiopacity in the left maxillary sinus. The clinical diagnosis was left odontogenic maxillary sinusitis, and the Caldwell-Luc operation was performed conventionally. Histopathological examination of surgical specimens revealed the presence of aspergillus.Follow-up examination up to 3 years 5 months after the operation showed no recurrence of symptoms, and the patient's course has been good.
