Abstract

This paper clarifies the importance of teamwork for development engineering human resources through the case of engineering education for college students. In Tokai Polytechnic College, students are encouraged to become an engineer so that they could participate actively in small and medium-sized enterprise. They are also needed to work in cooperation at workplace, however, it has been pointed out that they lack the level of basic teamwork skills necessary for them to become professionals, such as communication ability, interpersonal relationship skills and leadership. Therefore, we analyze basic teamwork skills that affect productivity and propose what kind of teaching is needed in developing engineering human resources.
