Abstract

The shipwreck by the mooring rope breaking might cause the hull damage, the loading equipment damage, and the accident resulting in injury or death. The authors considered that causes of the mooring rope's breakage are the rope repeated pulling and the resulted heat. Injhis research, the authors consider that the rope is supposed to be homogenous and is approximated by a cylinder. The cylinder is divided by a minute corner and the fan delta is divided very fine. The heat is transmitted only to radial and the temperature at each point in the part is calculated. The obtained results are summarized as follows; (1) The rise in heat is calculated from work by friction in the rope and the temperature rise on the rope under the repeated load is calculated. The numerical calculated results show the almost same tendency as the measurement ones. (2) It is possible to treat approximately as one dimension model in the conduction of heat though the mooring ropes are three dimensions.
