Abstract

A new method to produce bimetallic cylinders for injection molding of engineering plastics has been developed. Co based alloy was designed to improve corrosion-and wear-resistance, and fine powders having this composition were made by Ar gas atomization. Prealloyed powders were bonded to the inner surface of the cylinder body by the HIP process.Currently, these new cylinders are actually operating in the Japanese engineering plastic industry and are showing a good performance. And further, a new valve-body was produced by the same HIP process and the various properties were also discussed.
