Abstract

For the study of mechanism of infection of murine leprosy in the rats in which the function of reticulo-endothelial system is inhibited, the removal of spleen was carried out.The murine leprosy bacilli were inoculated, immediately after removal of the spleen in the first experiment, and ten days after the removal in the second experiment. The inoculation of 10-2 emulsion of murine leprosy bacilli showed the early and marked development of leproma in the experimented group as compared with that of the control group both in the first and the second experiment. The dissemination of murine leprosy bacilli over whole body of rat was accelerated markedly.Acceleration of development of murine leprosy was marked in the spleen-removed group of the first experiment in comparison with the growp of second experiment. No difference was recognized by the inoculation of 10-4 emulsion between the experimented group and the control group.
