Abstract

Yanagawa City is known as a district, with waterways developed into the city landscape and the waterside framing the city. However, there has been no formal strategy for waterway conservation, therefore waterways are currently facing a crisis that threatens their disappearance. This study aims to implement basic planning districts to conserve the riverside district landscape. Practically, the basic unit area used in the census is used as unit of this investigation. Distribution characteristics of frame landscape elements and individual landscape elements were understood by each unit of investigation. Conservation level was set from each unit of investigation according to priority degree, with basic planning districts set for conservation of the riverside district landscape.
