Abstract

The investigations on purification of the ammoniacal leach liquors from the Yomalaa low grade nickeliferrous oxide were carried out.Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (NH4H2PO4) was used to the ammoniacal leach liquors as a precipitation reagent. In case of direct addition of NH4H2PO4 on the liquors, NH4H2PO4 more than 2 mol/l was necessitated in order to reject 90% of 1 mol/l magnesium and corejection ratio of nickel and copper were estimated as 5% and 3% respectively from these result of dispersion analysis. In case of rejection test on the ammonia-stripped liquors, 0.7 mol/l NH4H2PO4 was enough for rejection of 90% of 1 mol/l magnesium and corejection ratio of nickel, cobalt and copper was less than 1% respectively.
