Abstract
Safety measures must be taken for slip and fall accidents because they cause severe injuries to the thighs and spine. In this study, the authors analyzed the avoidance motion during a slip and fall stimulus using a split belt treadmill. The results indicated that the transition of the floor reaction force during a fall stimulus correlates with the location of the COM and the risk of fall. In this paper, the authors analyzed fall avoidance motion based on the floor reaction force in the sagittal plane direction from a fall stimulus experiment that reproduced the phenomenon of a backward slip and fall. The results suggested that evaluation of fall risk is possible using the floor reaction force in the sagittal plane direction Fy when a fall stimulus is applied.
