Abstract

The roentogenographic diagnosis of a rotator cuff tear includes well known changes such as osteophyte and osteosclerosis of the acromion, cystic changes and osteosclerosis of the greater tuberosities of the humerus, and upper migration of the humeral head. This study shows the causes of rotator cuff tears and the relationship between radiographic changes and cuff tears. We examined 24 rotator cuff tear patients and 40 cadaver roentogen films.Roentogenographic changes of the acromion and Numeral head occur following the cuff tear and there is no relationship between cuff tear and roentogenographic changes of the acromio-clavicular joints.
