Abstract
This thesis presents a planning strategy to facilitate the conservation of the natural environment of rivers that are subject to human activities.Attached to this paper is a flow chart indicating the process to establish a design implementation programme for river projects. The flow chart is formulated from an environmental management perspective and consists of 2 parts:-the classification of river sections on the basis of established criteria; and-the selection of sites for specific designThis consept of river conservation planning is intended to facilitate the protection of the natural environment and to improve and enhance it in a step by step design programme.
