Abstract

This paper reports our design of experimental device for the small buoyancy control device with silicone rubber that utilizes the volume difference of paraffin wax between solid and liquid states to induce a buoyancy change. The amount of paraffin wax should be as small as possible to reduce the amount of heat to melt the paraffin wax completely. We designed a small buoyancy adjusting device, in which a solid paraffin wax is wrapped by silicone rubber. Then we designed a jig in which four of the devices are installed. Finally, we designed an experimental device made of acryl cylinder and domes with pomp and pips in which hot water flow to melt the paraffin wax. We calculated the volume of the experimental device and estimated its buoyancy.
