Abstract

For GSHP(Ground Surface Heat Pump) systems utilizing ground surface with 5~20 m depth, rotary buried steel pipe piles has been used to build heat exchanger wells in the ground because they basically need no drilling excavation. This has much cost advantage for the systems, however penetration mechanism of pile bit for more efficient design criteria has not been clarified. In this paper, pile penetration mechanism has been investigated considering a conventional pile bit models. Using the models, force/torque simulation as well as experiment of bit penetration has been performed.
