Abstract
A total of 100 Escherichia coli isolates from 92 cases of bovine peracute mastitis were examined for their properties, and no specific markers for the disease was detectable. Thirty-one isolates showed mucoid type colonies and 80 were motile. Hemolysin was produced by 14 isolates. Most isolates had biochemically common properties, greatly varying in O-groups. All the isolates were serum resistant. None of them produced verotoxin nor heat-stable enterotoxin.
