Abstract

The magnetic anisotropy sensor (MAS) is able to measure the mechanical stress of ferromagnetic material noncontactly. This paper deals with the conversion theory of MAS output voltage utilizing directional permeability distribution that assumed an elliptical form in the specimen. Relative permeability is proportional to the stress. Theoretical expression of the output voltage is derived from the concept of directional permeability distribution. The calculated curves of the output voltage have a comparatively good approach to the measured value due to the change of stress.
