Abstract
A case of a white sponge nevus involving the oral mucosa in a 20-year-old woman is presented. Physical examination revealed that the lesion was located only in the oral cavity. A biopsy showed hyperkeratosis and acanthosis with some vacuolation in the squamous epithelium. Based on these features, a white sponge nevus was diagnosed. Investigation of the patient's pedigree suggested that this case was sporadic, although the disease shows autosomal dominant inheritance.
