Abstract

To allow a more realistic simulation analysis of evacuation behavior in a large earthquake, we constructed models of evacuation start timing and evacuation route choice. We also improved the model by including factors that influence evacuation behavior, such as following other evacuees and ways of acquiring disaster information. Then, we examined simulation models of evacuation in the event of a major earthquake in an area with a high density of wooden houses. The results showed that in areas with a high risk of fire spread, direct evacuation may be preferable to two-step evacuation.
