Abstract
Sixty-three draft racehorses having abnormal breath sound during exercise were subjected to endoscopy of the laryngopharynx at rest, revealing abnormal findings in all cases. Laryngeal hemiplegia, pharyngeal lymphoid hyperplasia, dorsal displacement of the soft palate and arytenoid chondritis were detected in 56 (88.9%), 50 (79.4%), 6 (9.5%) and 1 (1.6%) horses examined, respectively. The prevalence and degree of pharyngeal lymphoid hvperplasia decreased with age.
