Abstract

Evaluating Kansei from tactile feelings is useful to develop products touched by human' s hand. In this paper, we focused on the way to generate present surface shapes with asperities and proposed the method presenting surface shapes and textures of object for Kansei engineering systems and Kansei evaluations. In order to feel tactile senses of various objects, we developed a system which presents virtual tactile senses by adjusting surface shapes utilizing a haptic device. And we attempted to reproduce surface shapes and textures of virtual objects with parameters such as height of asperity, density of asperity and so on. Accordingly, the user can feel various virtual tactile senses from the reaction force of a haptic device by changing parameters in the system. We conducted a Kansei evaluation experiment to consider the difference among virtual tactile feelings and the availability of applying to the Kansei engineering. Furthermore we considered relations between virtual tactile feeling and Kansei words.
