Abstract

This study focuses on ocean current power generation, develops a device for experiential learning, and aims to propose a teaching process. The developed device consists of a hull and a power generation turbine. The hull is stabilized by attaching two styrofoam floats side by side. The power generation turbine was designed and manufactured using 3D CAD. The guidance process consists of (1) confirming the energy situation in Japan and recognizing the need for renewable energy, (2) learning the mechanisms and characteristics of ocean current power generation through experiments, and (3) thinking about Japan's future energy policy. As a result of the experiment, I was able to understand the characteristics of ocean current power generation and consider Japan's energy policy from various points of view.
