Abstract

The transient phenomena of a magnetic frequency tripler with the filter connected on the primary side are presented. From the results obtained by numerical analysis, the conditions which maximize magnetizing inrush current without the filter are clarified and the maximum among the peak values of magnetizing inrush current is presented. Reduction of the magnetizing inrush current is obtained for the cade on which the filter is connected. Improvement of transient response to the variation of applied voltage is also shown. These results are confirmed by experiments.
