Abstract

A 12-year-old mix-breed dog was presented with anal sac tumor and scheduled for left anal sacculectomy. Pre-operative echocardiography revealed that the dog had moderate aortic regurgitation (AR), mild mitral valve regurgitation, and dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. A hypotension of invasive arterial blood pressure (IABP) following low mean and diastolic blood pressure during surgery was suspected to be related to AR and treated by heart rate titration with atropine and dopamine infusion. Accurate blood pressure assessment with IABP and extrapolation treatment strategy of hypotension related to AR by human medicine are useful for anesthetic management in dogs with AR.
