Abstract
Japan depends on import. Therefore, the shipping is a lifeline and vessels need to continue transporting materials and energy resources without stopping. So, this study aims at developing the Calculation Model of required number of vessels as a tool for securing stable import. This study developed the Tramper Calculation Model and the Liner Calculation Model. And the verification of two model shows that these models can calculate the required number of vessels appropriately. Moreover, the required number of vessels of Oil Tanker, Bulk Carrier (Ore), Bulk Carrier (Coal), Bulk Carrier (Ore and Coal), Bulk Carrier (Grain) and Container ship are calculated using the data of 2007. Finally, we showed that a difference of the required number by a policy could be taken into consideration, and showed the availability of the model.
