Abstract

Lumbar disc herniation in teenagers may show a tear at the ring apophysis which may show spur formation. This ring apophysis tear may occur not only in teenagers but also in cases of adults showing lumbar disc herniation. Accordingly, vertebral spur generated after lumbar disc herniation in teenagers and posterior vetebral spur in adult cases were compared by the type of spur in order to investigate the etiology or cause of posterior vetebral spur in cases of adults. Following findings were obtained.1) Bony spur generated after lumbar disc herniation in teenagers and traction spur generated at posterior site of lumbar vertebra in cases of adults cannot be discriminated morphologically.2) The etiology of posterior vertebral spur in cases of adults was considered to be involved greatly with lumbar disc herniation.
