Abstract
The title compound, C28H26N4O2·C4H8O2, was prepared from (2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)(1H-pyrrol-2-ylmethylene)amine and phenyl isocyanate in the presence of catalytic amounts of [Pd(PPh3)4]. Recrystallization of the crude product from a pentane–ethyl acetate mixture (10:1) yielded the title compound as the ethyl acetate solvate. The pyrrolo[1,2-c]imidazole core is essentially planar. In addition, a new stereogenic center at the ring C atom of the biheterocyclic group attached to the urea N atom has been formed during the reaction sequence. The crystal structure is influenced by various N—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
